Subject: Public Notice
The ZABR's Position on the “Oranjevrijstaat Boervolk’s” Media Releases.
On 7 November 2025, the Oranjevrijstaat Boervolk (OVB) placed a notice in the Government Gazette (No. 51500) and published it in the media in which they demand to be recognised as a sovereign people and to take repossession of the offices of state president, acting state president of the Orange Free State and Orange River State People's Council, as well as offices in executive authority.
Looking at the above, this is what the ZABR also aims to do (sovereignty and self-determination of the Boer people), with these essential differences:
- that the ZABR represents all the 21+ historical Boer Republics, not just one of the republics;
- the process followed; and
- the principles on which it is implemented.
What is meant by this and how does the ZABR approach this recovery process?
- The ZABR's mandate was obtained from all the historic Boer Republics across South Africa, with the aim of establishing one collective administration to administer the Boer people in totality sovereignly and independently to self-determination. When the Boer people reach that point, the people can decide for themselves which form of administration (confederate or otherwise) will serve best.
- The process followed by the OVB is what we would all like to see happen, but the realities are not so simple. The following risks have been thoroughly investigated by the ZABR and are the reasons why we do not support this route:
- Even though the RSA government is considered de facto, it is still recognized as de jure, locally and internationally, and has the power in its hand; whether its laws are recognized or not, it is enforced.
- The RSA Constitution makes no provision for two de jure governments within the territory of South Africa. Any indication of a parallel government is considered treason (Constitution Section 41(1), POCDATRA Act 33/2004).
- Any legislation proclaimed outside the RSA government is considered subversion of the Constitution and can be prosecuted as treason.
- Any statement that directly challenges the current government's status could be interpreted as a threat to the stability of the country and lead to serious legal consequences.
- The principles on which the ZABR is based are outlined as follows:
- The ZABR's mandate is not an ordinary grouping, but a Boer people and cultural movement, formed from the principles and needs of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Boervolk (ZAB).
- The ZABR focuses on the application of the ZAB's right to independence and self-determination as a sovereign people and guides the people to do so.
- The ZABR invokes the principles of international law, the Boer people's unique cultural heritage and the international recognised status as a people. A people's culture does not determine her faith, but her faith determines her culture. Thus, her faith forms the core of her culture, which thus determines the people themselves, as well as her administration.
- The ZABR invokes the right to exist on which our ancestors as Boer people originated: their trust and faith in their Creator, the Almighty Heavenly Father and His Word (Bible).
- The ZABR invokes the Scriptural principle and the terms of the Vows to which the Boer people and we as descendants are bound forever.
- The ZABR thus invokes the principles laid down by Almighty Heavenly Father Himself, confirmed by His Son, and guided by His Spirit, as recorded in His complete Word.
- The ZABR and the ZAB therefore plead with none other than her Almighty Creator and with her fellow countrymen who find unity in these principles. We bow our knees only to Him, to be a people for Him again.
Final statement:
Taking the above into account, although the ultimate goal of a sovereign Boer people who dispose of herself is also pursued by the ZABR, the ZABR expressly distances itself from the process and principles followed by the Oranjevrijstaat Boervolk. The OVB, initiated by Tom and Wim Rossouw (former members of the ZABR and Temporary Advisory Board), was determined from the outset to demand only the independence of the Free State and not to upheld the ZABR's theocratic foundation (Appendix L - According to Biblical Principles as well as Appendix M - Principles of Cultural and Individual Protection of the draft ZABR Constitution) and peace-loving white flag process rejected entirely. This caused all ties with the ZABR to be severed.
The ZABR warns every fellow countryman to be extremely careful. The OVB's aggressive approach can easily degenerate into a situation where the people pay the price again. If the Boer people want to be a people for their Creator again, He and His Word must also be recognized in their administration!
The ZABR focuses on the preparation of "the ark" – a theocratic-socialist, biblically-based cultural structure – for, when the time comes what Oom Siener has seen, when the Boer people will stand alone in faith, the ZABR can administer their people: “there will be a Boer people rising (flag flying) once everything has collapsed and we are through the fiery furnace that burns away the chaff and those that remain, will be one in faith”.
Additional Clarification for International Context (UNPFII Submission)
The ZABR further distances itself from any movements seeking self-determination under the broader “Afrikaner” identity (which has been rejected by international bodies as not constituting a cohesive people entitled to volkereg). Such movements, including but not limited to AfriForum, Lex Libertas, Cape secessionist initiatives, do not hold the mandate of the Boervolk as a collective. On the other hand, groups such as the OVB and the ZAR Boervolk, whom without explicit recognition of the full Word of the Almighty Heavenly Father as the Supreme Authority in their constitution and governance, risk undermining the legitimate, theocratic claim to volkereg pursued by the ZABR through peaceful and internationally grounded means. For the OVB and the ZAR it is more important that someone must be able to fiscally proof his birthright as a Boer ancestor to claim back their land, than seeking the Almighty’s Ways. For the ZABR it is the other way around; our goal is to be a people for Him again, according to His Will and He will restore our land.
Yours sincerely.
Signed
